We are happy to announce that we have a bursary again for the Textile Forum 2026. The bursary will cover the Forum fee for one participant.

This is intended to help someone working in, or scheduled to start working, about a topic involving knots, and unable to afford the Forum participation without support. We would especially like to support early career researchers, doctorate students, or early career conservators who would benefit from building their knowledge about this technique and building their network with others.

You will still need to cover your own travel fees. Your Forum participation fee will be voided, and you will have a bed in one of the dormitory rooms. To apply for the bursary, please send your application containing

  • a letter of motivation
  • examples of your ongoing work about tablet weaving, or a schedule of your planned work, and a description of what you will be doing in regards to tablet-weaving in this planned project
  • your CV
  • a disclosure of other financial support or grants that you have applied for or will receive to visit the ETF

to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Deadline for the application is July 7, 2025.

You will be required to do a presentation during the Textile Forum to present your ongoing or planned research/work, preferably something that involves an aspect of knots or knotting, and to write a short conference report to be published in the Archaeological Textiles Newsletter afterwards.

Applications from European states will be preferred; among these, applicants coming from countries with lower per-capita incomes will have precedence if the applications are of similar strength. There is no guarantee for being awarded the bursary.
